Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland nominated 11 Polish Army officers to become the newest Generals. The nominations were handed over on the 15’th of August, during the Polish Army celebration.
Nominations for Major General were recieved by brigadier general Maciej Jabłoński commander od 12’th Mechanised Division, brigadier general Dariusz Łukowski chief of the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate, brigadier general Tadeusz Mikutel deputy Armed Forces Operational Commander, brigiadier general Wiesław Kukuła commander of Territorial Defence Forces (WOT) and brigadier general Tomasz Piotrowski Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Operational Command. Also, Krzysztof Jerzy Jaworski, commander of Naval Operations Center – Maritime Component Command was promoted to vice-admiral.
First star was received by: Robert Drozd Chief of Management and Command Board of the General Staff, Karol Dymanowski director of MoD Department od Armament Policy, Dariusz Pluta chief of MoD Armament Inspectorate, Dariusz Ryczkowski director of MoD Infrastructure Department and Piotr Trytek commander of 12’th Mechanised Brigade. The August nominations are second nominations of generals in 2018. In March the most important commanders including Chief of General Staff, General Commander of the Armed Forces, and Operational Commander of the Armed Forces were promoted. Current nominations make sure that their rank matches their responsibilities.
Staffing policy of Ministry of Defence is connected to the plan of subjugating each command to the General Staff. Territorial Defence Forces, the youngest branch of Polish armed forces is to be under the General Staff as well. This will happen when WOT reaches operational readiness.
