On Monday, 1 December 2025, the Italian company Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV; now part of the Leonardo Group) announced the signing of a contract of undisclosed value with the Italian Directorate of Land Armaments (Direzione Armamenti Terrestri, DAT) for the delivery of an additional 658 tactical-logistic trucks to the Italian Army (Esercito Italiano), bringing the total number to 1,453 vehicles, including last year’s order (from December 2024, valued at 755 million EUR).
The contract provides for the renewal and modernization of the Italian Army’s tactical-logistic fleet and the further strengthening of its logistical capabilities by increasing the total number of vehicles to 2,111 units, with deliveries planned through 2039.
The additional vehicles will be based on IDV’s new range of standard military trucks and will be available in multiple logistic configurations, including cargo transport vehicles, water and fuel tankers, hook-lift systems for ISO standard containers, recovery vehicles, and towing systems. IDV will also provide logistic support, including in-service support and technical assistance for the entire fleet.
This contract expansion marks another significant milestone in IDV’s long-term commitment to supporting and enhancing Italy’s land operational capabilities. The company is already bound by agreements with the Direzione Armamenti Terrestri of the Italian Ministry of Defence for the delivery of a total of 1,453 vehicles. The new trucks, scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2038, represent an important step toward ensuring the renewal and modernization of the Italian Army’s tactical-logistic fleet.
