Missiles for WB Group’s ZMU unmanned turrets

During the Eurosatory 2024 trade fair, WB Group signed an agreement with Thales Group companies to expand the armament package of the remotely controlled turret systems ZMU-03/05.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, during the Eurosatory trade fair in Paris, WB Group signed an agreement with Thales Group companies to expand the armament package of the remotely controlled turret systems ZMU-03/05. The unmanned modules are currently equipped with machine guns. Thanks to the Polish-Belgian cooperation, the ZMU-03/05 will become capable of carrying launchers for guided and unguided missiles (WB Group at Eurosatory 2024).

On the second day of the largest defense industry trade fair in Europe, held in Paris, an agreement was signed between the Zakład Automatyki i Urządzeń Pomiarowych  AREX and WB Electronics, both part of the WB Group, and Thales Belgium and Thales Poland (part of Thales Group) regarding the possibility of expanding the armament package of the unmanned light turrets ZMU-03/05 (Polish combat robot and medical evacuation robot at the FEX-2024 exercise).

ZMU is a family of remotely controlled turret systems developed by AREX, with armaments ranging from 5.56 to 40 mm in caliber. The Polish solution features a modular design, facilitating servicing, quick repairs, and upgrades. The unmanned turrets can be equipped with machine guns, grenade launchers, and automatic cannons.

WB Group’s remotely controlled turret systems are distinguished by their low weight, allowing the use of ZMU even on light vehicles, including wheeled and tracked robotic platforms. The unmanned turrets from the Gdynia-based company AREX are equipped with dual stabilization systems for both armaments and sensors.

The agreement between WB Group and Thales Group will enable the integration of launchers for guided and unguided missiles with Polish turret systems. Such armament for the remotely controlled ZMU-03/05 will allow for engaging a wider range of land, sea, and air targets at greater distances.

Polish unmanned turrets equipped with 70 mm guided missiles with modern warheads developed by Thales Belgium will be capable of destroy aerial unmanned systems operating at altitudes up to 2,500 meters and at distances of several kilometers.
