Hornady ammunition at MSPO 2024

Hornady, a U.S.-based manufacturer of ammunition and reloading products, will showcase its products at the 32nd International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO 2024. The event will take place from September 3-6, 2024, at the Targi Kielce exhibition center. Hornady’s catalog includes a wide range of ammunition, including options designed for law enforcement. The ammunition is divided into product lines intended for various applications. At MSPO 2024, Hornady will present, among others, ammunition from the following lines:

• TAP: 6mm ARC and .300 Blackout,
• Critical DUTY: 9mm x 19 Luger +P 135 gr FlexLock.

TAP Series

The TAP series – Tactical Application Police – is ammunition featuring a semi-jacketed bullet equipped with a polymer tip. Its purpose is to ensure better bullet flight and more reliable expansion upon impact.

6mm ARC

The 6mm ARC ammunition is a modification of the 6.5 Grendel cartridge. The case has been adapted to accommodate .243 caliber (6mm) bullets with a higher ballistic coefficient. This ammunition is known for its good performance at longer distances, making it increasingly popular in the long-range shooting world (e.g., Precision Rifle Series). Another advantage is its low recoil (compared to ammunition like .308 Winchester) and its suitability for use in AR-15 rifles.

This ammunition is also used to some extent by the U.S. Armed Forces. In 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense signed a contract with Barrett Firearms Manufacturing for the supply of AR-15 REC7 rifles chambered in this ammunition. Another supplier of such weapons is Geissele Automatics with variants of the GFR model. During the 2023 SHOT Show, contract rifles were showcased at this manufacturer’s booth. In addition to the variant with a longer 18-inch (457 mm) barrel, a variant with a 14.5-inch (368 mm) barrel was also presented. This barrel length corresponds to that of standard M4A1 carbine.

The 6mm ARC ammunition from the TAP line is characterized by a high ballistic coefficient and improved obstacle penetration (the manufacturer cites examples such as car windows).

300 Blackout

The 300 Blackout ammunition from the TAP line is divided into two variants. The first, 110 gr TAP Urban, is designed to maximize expansion when fired from short-barreled semi-automatic rifles. The second bullet is the 190 gr SUB-X TAP, which is designed with greater obstacle penetration capability at subsonic speeds.

The 9mm x 19 Luger ammunition from the Critical DUTY line is part of the standard equipment for FBI agents. It features a semi-jacketed bullet with a polymer tip designed to increase expansion reliability. The jacket is shaped in such a way that only the front half of the bullet expands, while the rear retains energy, theoretically allowing for better obstacle penetration.

The 32nd International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO 2024 will take place at the Targi Kielce exhibition center from September 3-6, 2024. This year’s edition will mark the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to NATO. The event is under the honorary patronage of President Andrzej Duda, with the Polish Armaments Groups (PGZ) as the strategic partner. It will be an opportunity not only to explore the offerings of numerous military equipment manufacturers but also to participate in discussion panels, technology demonstrations, and various business meetings.
