On 28 November, Poland celebrates Navy Day – the anniversary of Marshal Józef Piłsudski’s 1918 decree that marked the beginning of the history of the Polish naval forces. It is an important moment reminding us of the role the Navy plays in building the state’s sovereignty and security. Poland and South Korea share a similar view of geopolitical challenges and the need to develop modern and independent maritime capabilities.
“In the current geopolitical context, the decision regarding the ORKA programme and the acquisition of New-Type Submarines for Poland takes on particular significance. We understand the strategic importance of this decision and congratulate all sailors and representatives of the maritime sector for their involvement in this process. We believe that the new combat capabilities will strengthen the country’s maritime security in the years to come,” says Seong-Woo Park, Vice President of Hanwha Ocean responsible for the ORKA programme.
Cooperation between the Polish shipbuilding industry and Korean partners, including Hanwha Ocean, can bring key technologies and experience in submarine construction as well as the development of full MRO capabilities in Poland.
On the occasion of the Polish Navy Day, Hanwha Ocean extends its wishes to all Sailors for safe service, favourable winds, and satisfaction from the mission carried out in support of Poland’s defence.
