On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Hanwha Aerospace of the Republic of Korea and BAE Systems of the United Kingdom announced that they had entered into a partnership to integrate the UK’s advanced jamming-resistant GPS guidance systems (Advanced Anti-Jamming GPS) with South Korea’s Deep Strike Capability series of guided missiles.
Under the agreement, Hanwha Aerospace will integrate BAE Systems’ next-generation GPS technology with the Deep Strike Capability precision-guided weapon system. This advanced technology will provide state-of-the-art protection against the effects of electronic warfare (EW), ensuring superior accuracy and reliability in armed conflict. This strategic enhancement will guarantee full interoperability with NATO and strengthen the competitiveness of the Deep Strike Capability missile systems on the global export market.
The agreement brings together two aerospace and defense technology companies to collaborate in the key area of advanced guidance technology. The partnership will leverage BAE Systems’ world-class expertise in military GPS systems and anti-jamming solutions to counter advanced threats posed by electronic warfare.
Billy Boo-hwan Lee, the Head of PGM Business Group at Hanwha Aerospace, said: “The purpose of this cooperation with BAE Systems is to secure advanced electronic warfare protection technology to protect our guided weapon systems. Based on a technological advantage to counter electronic warfare threats, we will strengthen our position in the global market.”
Luke Bishop, Director of Navigation and Sensor Systems at BAE Systems, added: “Our collaboration with Hanwha will help give operators added versatility in the field when they need it most. That versatility combined with our highly reliable military GPS products provides users with a product they can trust will work in the most contested environments.”
Hanwha’s Deep Strike Capability missile series — including the CGR-080 guided artillery rocket, CTM-MR anti-ship missile, CTM-ASBM anti-ship ballistic missile, and CTM-290 tactical ballistic missile — offers a flexible, multi-caliber, and multi-role launch capability tailored to diverse missions, from countering enemy fire support to neutralizing targets in complex environments. Furthermore, the dual-launcher configuration allows for the deployment of a wide range of guided missiles from a single platform, delivering superior firepower and operational flexibility.
The new guidance system developed through this cooperation is designed to provide Hanwha’s Deep Strike Capability system with exceptional accuracy and operational reliability, even in heavily contested electronic warfare environments. This initiative has been strategically designed to meet NATO interoperability requirements, significantly enhancing the system’s market appeal in Europe and other allied nations.
