During the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing efforts to finalize Execution Contract No. 2 (EC 2) concerning the procurement of an additional batch of modern K2 tanks and the establishment of their production in Poland. Both sides stated that they are close to finalizing the contract, which will not only provide Poland with access to advanced military technologies but also enable the development of production and maintenance capabilities within the Polish defense industry. Ultimately, this agreement will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces, serving as a key element in the modernization of the Polish military (First deliveries of K2 tanks and K9A1 howitzers this year, Polish Ministry of National Defense on arms contracts in South Korea).
As part of the meeting, discussions also covered the new submarines presented by the South Koreans for the Polish Orka program, which is currently one of the key modernization programs of the Polish Armed Forces. Korean submarines are among the options Poland is considering, alongside proposals from Western manufacturers for the acquisition of submarines (Meeting of the Deputy Ministers of Defense of Poland and Italy).
The meeting concluded with an exchange of opinions and assurances from both sides about the continued development of cooperation in armaments and military technology. Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda and Deputy Minister Hyunki Cho expressed their satisfaction with the progress made so far and emphasized the importance of strategic bilateral cooperation between the two countries in enhancing mutual security.
