On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on social media the delivery of the final 20 units out of the 180 Hyundai Rotem K2GF Heuk-Pyo (Black Panther) tanks ordered in 2022 in the Republic of Korea.

“We are getting stronger and stronger! Another 20 K2 Black Panther tanks for the 16th Mechanized Division have just arrived in Poland, which means we now have the full set of 180 tanks from the first delivery contract. Starting next year, we begin implementing the next batch – from the new contract signed this August. Among them will also be tanks already produced in Poland,” the Minister of National Defence wrote on the social media platform X.
This means that, so far, the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem has delivered to Poland the complete set of 180 K2GF tanks ordered. The previous deliveries this year took place on August 27, August 12, May 6, and June 4. They come from the first executive contract of August 26, 2022, valued at 3.37 billion USD net (15.98 billion PLN net / 19.65 billion PLN gross).
The tanks have been delivered primarily to the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division: two battalions within the 20th Bartoszyce Mechanized Brigade, the 9th Braniewo Armored Cavalry Brigade, and the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade. In addition, six vehicles were delivered to the Land Forces Training Center in Poznań.
Meanwhile, in mid-November, soldiers of the 9th Braniewo Armored Cavalry Brigade trained on their vehicles at the Bemowo Piskie Training Center.
On August 1 of this year, a second contract worth approx. 6.5 billion USD (23.97 billion PLN) was signed for another 180 tanks, including 116 K2GF tanks to be delivered in 2026–2027 and 64 tanks in the Polish K2PL configuration (61 of which will be assembled in Poland), as well as 81 support vehicles of three types: 31 armored recovery vehicles, 25 engineering vehicles, and 25 assault bridges, all of which will be developed and built in Poland (MSPO 2025: Hyundai Rotem presented support vehicles for the K2 tank). Everything is being carried out under the framework agreement for a total of 1,000 K2GF/PL tanks.
The K2 Black Panther is a 3+ generation South Korean main battle tank. Its primary armament is a 120 mm smoothbore gun with an autoloader capable of firing the latest types of ammunition. The secondary armament consists of a 7.62 mm machine gun and a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun. The tank’s advanced fire-control system provides high accuracy and effectiveness at long distances. Even in its standard configuration, the K2’s armor – further upgradable with soft-kill (VIRSS) and hard-kill (KAPS) active protection systems – ensures high ballistic and mine resistance. The tank is powered by a 1,500 hp diesel engine with an automatic transmission, offering high speed and mobility in all types of terrain. It is characterized by a relatively low weight of 55 tons and a hydropneumatic suspension system.
To date, the Polish Armed Forces have also received 201 Abrams tanks of both versions (M1A1FEP and M1A2SEPv3) out of 366 ordered. Supplementing them are older Leopard 2A5 tanks (105 units) and the modernized Leopard 2PL/M1 fleet – Leopard 2A4 tanks, of which 82 out of 128 planned for upgrade have been delivered (according to the contract with an option for 14 more, but an equal number was transferred to Ukraine). Altogether, this amounts to 614 Western-type tanks (in addition, approximately 100 T-72 family tanks and 172 PT-91 Twardy remain in service).
