On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Dutch Minister of Defense, Ruben Brekelmans, announced that from December 1, 2025, to June 1, 2026, two MIM-104 Patriot air and missile defense system batteries, a NASAMS air defense battery, and a counter-drone system will be stationed at the POLLOGHUB logistics and medical hub at Rzeszów–Jasionka Ulma Family International Airport.

This also provides security for the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) initiative, which the POLLOGHUB supports, and will involve a military contingent of around 300 soldiers. In this way, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, together with its partners, ensures layered air defense against potential threats from ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles of various classes.
“Defense (Forces) provide advanced capabilities. They are scarce, but the Netherlands is able to deliver them. This deployment contributes to three important goals: defending NATO territory, deterring Russian aggression, and providing unwavering support to Ukraine. In this way, we keep the Russian threat at the greatest possible distance,” said Defense Minister Brekelmans.
NSATU coordinates and facilitates the training of Ukrainian military personnel and provides the country with military support. Military equipment donated to Ukraine by NATO countries must reach its destination safely. Air defense enables NSATU to carry out these logistical operations securely.
Today, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, also commented on the Dutch decision:
“There is a decision by our ally to support our allied security. This year, two Dutch Patriot batteries will be stationed in Poland.”
Wicepremier W. @KosiniakKamysz: jest decyzja naszego sojusznika o wsparciu naszego sojuszniczego bezpieczeństwa. W tym roku dwa 🇳🇱holenderskie zestawy baterii Patrioty będą stacjonowały w Polsce🇵🇱.

That’s not all. It should be recalled that on July 7 of this year, the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands announced that between September 1 and December 1 of this year, a detachment of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (Koninklijke Luchtmacht, KLu) with Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II multirole aircraft will be deployed in Poland.
Currently, since January of this year, German medium-range MIM-104 Patriot air and missile defense batteries have been stationed at the POLLOGHUB logistics and medical hub. The mission of the Norwegian NASAMS battery ended on June 30 of this year, but in the autumn F-35A aircraft from that country will return to Poland.
In addition, further rotational allied air support is being provided by: an Australian E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft, five German Eurofighter Typhoon multirole aircraft, and a second rotation of six Swedish JAS 39C Gripens.
