On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the defence procurement agency FMI (Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse; also known by the English acronym DALO, Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization) under the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Denmark signed a framework agreement with the German Rheinmetall AG group for the delivery of a total of 1,000 HX and TG series trucks, simultaneously concluding the first annex for a batch of more than one hundred vehicles worth several tens of millions of euros.

The new trucks will be purchased as part of the expansion of Denmark’s heavy mechanized infantry brigade. Delivery of the vehicles will take place in an exceptionally short time, with the first units to be handed over before the end of 2027. The order also includes additional services such as operational support, spare parts, and vehicle maintenance training. The purchase is being financed from the new Accelerations Fund (Accelerationsfond).
At the same time, the maintenance contract for the existing fleet has been extended for another four years, as since late 2006 the Danish Army has operated 205 HX family trucks, including 113 HX77 8×8 with a self-loading system, 83 HX77 8×8 in transport/tanker configuration, 5 HX58 6×6 tractor units, and 4 HX60 4×4 in container/transport configuration. They will be joined by HX 10×10 carriers for the two Dry Support Bridge (DSB) systems ordered on 17 July this year from KNDS UK.
The latest framework agreement marks Denmark’s return to the HX vehicle family. It also represents a decisive strategic step toward strengthening Rheinmetall’s market position in Northern Europe and establishing the HX as the standard tactical vehicle of the Royal Danish Army. The new order further demonstrates the high level of confidence in the proven HX vehicles.
“The acquisition of new all-terrain trucks for the heavy infantry brigade is another important piece in the Army’s armament. Therefore, I am very pleased that through this contract signing, we now ensure that the soldiers within a few years will have significantly increased their combat power in their operational tasks. I am pleased to see our collaboration with Rheinmetall continue,” says head of the land division at FMI, Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen.
Andre Barthel, CEO RMMV:
“With this agreement, we are proud to resume and continue our long-standing collaboration with our Danish customer. Since the early days of HX program, Denmark has been and continues to be a reliable partner and important member of the RMMV User nation Group. We look forward to further expanding this successful partnership in the coming years.”
The proven HX vehicle family was designed as a military-ready product distinguished by extreme durability and reliability, with a service life tested for more than 20 years. The vehicles are available in drivetrain configurations ranging from 4×4 to 10×10. The HX family is one of the most widely used utility vehicle platforms among armed forces, government agencies, and security organizations.
Designed for military use, these vehicles offer high maneuverability and perform exceptionally well even in challenging terrain. The wide global deployment of the HX vehicle family provides significant benefits in terms of interoperability and logistics, particularly in the context of international operations.
Worldwide, more than 20,000 HX trucks are in service, many of them in EU and NATO countries. In addition to Germany, current users include the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Singapore, Slovenia, Denmark, and Ukraine. Canada and Latvia will join them soon. The latest generation, the HX3, is currently being offered in the United States both as logistic and artillery chassis.
