On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Danish company Terma announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American company Boeing regarding the establishment of a regional Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center for P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, should they be selected by the Danish government.

The cooperation document was signed during Denmark’s largest defense industry fair, DALO Industry Days in Ballerup, held on August 20–21. The event is organized by the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (FMI – Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse; also known by its English acronym DALO).
By joining forces, Terma and Boeing aim not only to meet the urgent operational needs of the Royal Danish Air Force (Flyvevåbnet), but also to lay the foundation for a more resilient and self-sufficient defense industry security structure in Denmark—one that strengthens national security while supporting the long-term growth of industry.
“This agreement marks an important step in our ambition to strengthen Denmark’s position in critical sustainment capabilities. We believe that robust MRO infrastructure is essential to ensuring operational availability of key assets such as the P-8. If the Danish Defense decides on acquiring the P-8 as a new military platform, we – as the industry, stand ready to support By formalizing our intent to collaborate with Boeing, we are not only deepening an already strong relationship – we are also aligning our industrial capabilities to strengthen national resilience,” states Thomas Flarup, Chief Commercial Officer at Terma
Terma and Boeing share a vision of supporting allies through innovation, local expertise, and robust services in sustaining defense capabilities. By exploring the potential for a dedicated P-8 MRO center in Denmark, the two companies aim to make a significant contribution to strengthening the operational resilience of the Danish Armed Forces.

“Terma is an enduring supplier to Boeing’s P-8 program and we have collaborated together for over a decade to advance Denmark’s aerospace ecosystem on projects such as the Harpoon Missile Simulator, a realistic training environment for the operation of advanced missile systems,” said Maria Laine, president of Boeing United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics. “In the face of global challenges, this MoU fortifies our shared vision for a stronger, more capable defense industrial base, and we are proud to stand beside Denmark’s largest defense company to deliver enhanced sovereign fleet support if Denmark selects the P-8 for its maritime patrol aircraft requirement.”
As mentioned, Terma has long been a supplier to the P-8A Poseidon program. This agreement builds on that foundation, reflecting both companies’ commitment to deepening cooperation and delivering added value to customers.
The first reports of the Copenhagen government’s interest in the P-8A Poseidon appeared in the Danish daily Altinget on November 19, 2023. Later, on June 5 of this year, Denmark signed a cooperation agreement with Norway to lease Norwegian P-8A aircraft to meet urgent maritime patrol needs (Norway operates 5 units).
Boeing has received orders for around 200 aircraft, delivered not only to the U.S. Navy (139 units) and Norway, but also to Australia (12 units), India (a modified P-8I Neptune; 12 delivered + 6 ordered), the United Kingdom (as Poseidon MRA Mk1; 9 units), New Zealand (4 units), and South Korea (3 of 6 units delivered). The next operators will be Germany (8 units) and Canada (16 units). Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia expressed interest in purchasing some time ago, and in recent months the Netherlands has also shown interest.
