On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense responsible for overseeing the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, announced on social media that WB Electronics, a company within the WB Group, had delivered seven sets of FlyEye Miniature Unmanned Aerial Systems to the Territorial Defence Forces, as ordered in April this year.
“Quick deliveries – just the way we like it! The past few days have been marked by the efficient execution of the April contract with WB Group for 7 FlyEye systems. The UAVs are now in the hands of the Territorial Defence Forces. More good news about drones is coming soon – the framework agreement includes the acquisition of over 1,600 FlyEye systems,” Paweł Bejda announced on the social media platform X.
On September 5, 2023, during the XXXI International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce, a framework agreement was signed for the delivery of approximately 400 sets of FlyEye Miniature Unmanned Aerial Systems. The first implementation contract for the mentioned 7 sets was signed on April 19 of this year, the second on September 4 during the XXXII MSPO for 6 sets, and the third on November 15 for 13 sets.
Each set consists of four unmanned aerial vehicles and a ground control station. The implementation contracts also include technical documentation and repair, logistics, and training packages.
In November of last year, the Polish Armed Forces received five upgraded sets, which the manufacturer modernized to the FlyEye 3.6 version under a December 2022 contract. The upgrades included modifications to navigation systems, enhanced security features, and integration of the UAVs with the Topaz Automated Fire Control System.
The FlyEye mini-class UAVs are designed for aerial image reconnaissance using electro-optical payloads equipped with cameras capable of capturing imagery in daylight as well as through thermal imaging. The system has been successfully tested within the Polish Armed Forces, where it performs tasks for both Operational Forces and the Territorial Defence Forces, and has also been deployed in combat operations in Ukraine.
