On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Gdynia Naval Port Command published information on the outcome of the tender procedure for the repair of two 76 mm Mk 75 naval guns, L/62 caliber, mounted on the Oliver Hazard Perry-class missile frigates ORP Gen. K. Pułaski (272) and ORP Gen. T. Kościuszko (273). The procedure had been ongoing since February 7 of this year.

The deadline for submitting bids in the tender procedure expired on March 18. The sole criterion for selecting the offer was price (100%). Additionally, in order to perform the service, the contractor is required to have authorization from the U.S. Department of State to conduct inspections and maintenance of Mk 75 guns.
Only one offer was received and admitted to the procedure. It was submitted by a consortium consisting of Megmar Logistic & Consulting from Kutno and Leonardo Poland from Warsaw (a subsidiary of the Italian Leonardo Group), which valued the offer at 3,994,548 PLN. This means that a contract will soon be signed in this matter.
The order covers the repair of two Mk 75 naval guns. A detailed description of the contract was included in the Terms of Reference, which has been provided to the contractor. The work must be completed by November 13, 2026.
The Mk 75 automatic gun is a licensed version of the Leonardo OTO Melara Compact 76/62, manufactured for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard since 1978 by FMC Naval Systems Division (NSD), a joint venture between FMC Corporation and General Electric Co. (Ordnance Systems Division). The rights to the system are now held by BAE Systems Inc.
It is worth noting that on June 23 of this year, Megmar Logistic & Consulting also won a tender for the repair of a 76 mm OTO Melara Super Rapid L/62 naval automatic gun, which is part of the armament of the ORP Ślązak (241) patrol corvette.
Both the Mk 75 and the OTO Melara Super Rapid L/62 belong to the same family of OTO Melara naval guns and, for now, are the only systems of this type in service with the Polish Navy. However, this will soon change, as three OTO Melara 76/62 Super Rapid Strales guns have been ordered for the new Miecznik-class missile frigates—future ORP Wicher, ORP Burza, and ORP Huragan.
As an interesting side note regarding the Mk 75: on December 20, 2024, Taiwan received approval to purchase 16 used guns of this type as part of a package worth up to 30 million USD. These guns come from decommissioned USCG vessels, specifically, 12 Hamilton-class patrol cutters (and likely spare units), which were removed from service between 2011 and 2021.
