“This is a meeting of those who buy and sell. This is the largest defense industry exhibition in the history of Poland. I want to thank all the companies that help us build the economy. These defense expenditures, which are the highest in years, put us in the first place in NATO. (…) During this exhibition, we will sign additional contracts worth around 2 billion PLN. This includes completing the Narew and Wisła systems, radar systems, investments with our foreign partners, as well as contracts with Rosomak S.A., Jelcz S.A., and WB Electronics. These are investments that ensure security,” said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during his visit to Kielce, where the International Defense Industry Exhibition was opened today.

During this year’s edition of MSPO, featuring over 760 exhibitors, the armed forces exhibition is celebrating a special anniversary. The exhibition, titled “25 Years of Poland in NATO – 25 Years of Security,” highlights the importance of Poland’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance for national and international security. The main theme provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the achievements and progress made by the Polish Armed Forces within the alliance. Key elements of the exhibition include a mission camp, a patrol vessel, and the Śnieżnik simulator. Each year, over 1,000 Polish soldiers participate in organizing the exhibition.

During MSPO, Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz signed a contract for the delivery of radio receivers for the Wisła and Narew systems. Agreements were also signed for Hiab cranes and contamination detection systems for the Rosomak armored personnel carriers.

Equipping the Rosomaks with contamination detection systems, cranes on the Jelcz platform – which is an investment in logistics – are among the contracts signed today at MSPO. Wherever possible, we want to invest Polish taxpayers’ money in the Polish industry. More contracts will be signed tomorrow,” said the Minister of National Defense after the signing of the agreements.

Details of the agreements:

  • Heavy-duty cranes:

The contract, concluded between the State Treasury – Armament Agency and Jelcz company, concerns the delivery of 90 HIAB 855 EP-5 heavy-duty cranes on Jelcz 862D.43 trucks between 2025 and 2028. The total value of the contract is approximately PLN 384 million gross (approximately 99 million USD), and it includes a guaranteed part covering the delivery of 53 cranes for approximately PLN 228 million (ca. 59 million USD), and an optional part for 37 cranes for approximately PLN 155 million (ca. 40 million USD).

The heavy-duty crane on the truck consists of a base vehicle, which is the Jelcz 862D.43 truck equipped with a HIAB 855 EP-5 portable crane (lifting device). The heavy-duty crane on the truck allows for the performance of loading and unloading operations. The crane enables handling of various cargo, including containers with a maximum allowable weight of up to 9 tons.

  • MIDS JTRS Radio Receivers:

The contract, concluded between the State Treasury – Armament Agency and the U.S. Government, concerns the delivery of 31 MIDS JTRS radio receivers in 2026-2027 for the medium-range air and missile defense systems Wisła and the short-range Narew systems. The value of the delivery contract is approximately 16.7 million USD.

MIDS JTRS (Multi-Functional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System) radio receivers are used for data exchange within the Link-16 radio tactical data transmission system, enabling the creation of a combined situational awareness picture in near-real time. This capability provides a tactical advantage over the enemy and allows the execution of combat missions by utilizing data from various Link-16 platforms and systems that process data using the Link-16 protocol.

In the case of the Patriot systems included in the Wisła system, MIDS JTRS receivers allow for the acquisition of the aforementioned data for the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS), enabling effective decision-making for conducting combat operations.

  • Contamination Detection System for the KTO Rosomak:

The contract, concluded between the State Treasury – Armament Agency and the Rosomak company, covers the development work from 2024 to 2026 and the delivery of 348 Contamination Detection Systems between 2027 and 2030, intended for installation on Rosomak Wheeled Armored Personnel Carriers (KTO Rosomak) in both combat and specialized versions. The total value of the contract for the development work and delivery is approximately PLN 316 million gross (ca. 81.5 million USD).

The Contamination Detection System is designed for the automatic detection and measurement of chemical and radioactive contamination in the air, as well as for generating a signal indicating detected contamination. The Contamination Detection System consists of a set of onboard devices: a chemical contamination detector, a dosimeter, and auxiliary equipment (including an air intake system and mounting components).

During his visit to Kielce, the Minister of National Defense, together with the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Jacek Siewiera, presented a catalog of Polish-made defense industry equipment.

MSPO for the Polish defense industry will continue throughout the year. We are publishing a catalog of Polish equipment. The catalog, showcasing 60 companies, will be distributed worldwide. All diplomatic missions and military attachés will be required to present the Polish defense industry – this is economic patriotism. The Polish Army is a good user of this equipment. The public sector is important to us, but so is the private sector. You are very much needed in Poland. (…) We want to sell the best Polish products globally in every sector, including the defense industry. Minister Siewiera from the BBN proposed that we jointly create a catalog promoting Polish companies, giving our partners a chance to learn about our offerings,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The International Defense Industry Exhibition is one of the most important defense industry trade events in the world, organized since 1993. It attracts dozens of exhibitors from around the globe, showcasing hundreds of the latest products in the defense industry. Among the visitors are representatives of the Polish Armed Forces, as well as military delegations from NATO countries, ambassadors, and representatives of institutions and organizations related to national defense and security.
