On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade hosted representatives of the European Union Military Committee. The off-site informal meeting focused on the East Shield initiative. The event is part of the activities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union this year, which places a strong emphasis on security and defense issues. As part of this strategy, the East Shield initiative is being actively promoted, aiming to strengthen the defense capabilities of the region’s states and modernize the technical infrastructure of the Polish Armed Forces.

In addition to information about the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade and the East Shield initiative, officers from 27 countries also explored an exhibition of military equipment prepared by the armed forces and Polish defense industry entities. Among the exhibitors were nine companies from the Polish Armaments Group. They showcased their innovative and modern products and solutions, with exhibitors including Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma, Fabryka Broni Łucznik-Radom, Huta Stalowa Wola, PSO Maskpol, Mesko, PCO, PIT-Radwar, Rosomak, and Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów.
The EU Military Committee delegates were equally interested in small arms, optoelectronics, ammunition, combat equipment, and individual soldier gear, as well as heavy equipment. Among the highlights were the showcased NBPWP Borsuk infantry fighting vehicle, the lightweight reconnaissance vehicle Legwan, the Rosomak wheeled armored personnel carrier equipped with the ZSSW-30 turret, and the PET/PCL Passive Location System. A significant portion of the military equipment on display came from Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) facilities. As a result, the exhibition featured the M120K Rak self-propelled mortar, Gladius unmanned aerial vehicles, the Rosomak APC in a medical evacuation variant, the Homar-K missile system mounted on a Jelcz truck, the Poprad air defense system, and elements of the PSR-A Pilica system.
The EU Military Committee representatives visited Poland at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła. The three-day visit provided an opportunity to showcase exemplary solutions in the modernization of the Polish military and the development of defense systems. It also allowed delegates to learn about the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of National Defense in the field of technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces and the crucial role played in this process by the domestic defense industry, led by the Polish Armaments Group.
