The Polish delegation was led by Deputy Ministers and Secretaries of State in the Ministry of National Defense, Paweł Bejda and Cezary Tomczyk, along with representatives from the command staff of the Polish Air Force.

Minister Paweł Bejda informed MILMAG Magazine that another F-35A aircraft will be presented later this year, with four more expected next year. The aircraft with factory numbers AZ-02 and AZ-03 are currently in the advanced stages of final assembly.

Lockheed Martin had previously announced the final assembly of the presented aircraft on April 29 of this year.

In the meantime, it has been confirmed that the Polish F-35As will feature the Polish Air Force checkerboard insignia in shades of gray (known as low-visibility or low-vis), and the winning name in the competition announced by the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces is “Husarz.”

Poland will receive 32 F-35A aircraft in the latest Block 4 configuration and with Technical Refresh 3 (TR3) equipment, under the intergovernmental agreement signed on January 31, 2020, valued at 4.6 billion USD (17.9 billion PLN).

The first 8 aircraft, starting from December of this year, will gradually be delivered to Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas, according to a report from the American newspaper Arkansas Business on April 25. There, the first Polish soldiers will begin training on the new type of aircraft. They will be stationed in the USA for training purposes until 2027.

A total of 24 pilots and 92 technical personnel will be trained (the pilots will arrive in the USA in seven groups, with the first two arriving this fall). Polish pilots will undergo training in Ebbing up to the instructor level, enabling subsequent aviators to be trained in Poland at the Integrated Training Center, which will house eight full mission simulators.

The first aircraft are expected to arrive in the country at the turn of 2025 and 2026, after which the first squadron will be completed at the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. The second squadron is scheduled to be completed in 2030 at the 21st Tactical Air Base in Świdwin.

The F-35A Husarz aircraft will be armed with Northrop Grumman AGM-88G AARGM-ER extended-range anti-radiation missiles, AGM-158B-2 JASSM-ER extended-range cruise missiles, AIM-9X Tactical Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missiles, and AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles. Additionally, the Armament Agency is also exploring the market for anti-ship missiles for these aircraft.
