On Monday, August 5, 2024, the Polish National Police Headquarters (KGP) published information on the opening of bids in the tender process, which has been conducted since July 3 of this year under an accelerated restricted procedure, for the delivery of another batch of 5.56 mm Heckler & Koch HK416 rifles.

The subject of the tender is the delivery of 335 HK416 rifles as part of the base order, with an option to purchase up to an additional 100. The deadline for submitting requests to participate in the tender was initially set for July 15 but was later extended to July 22. The selection criteria for the offer were the gross price (60%), delivery time (10%), and compatibility (30%).
Thus, on July 22, the National Police Headquarters (KGP) published information about the submitted bids, and according to the document, the sole bidder is Cenzin, a company from Warsaw that is part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ).
On August 5, two additional pieces of information were published. The first revealed that the National Police Headquarters (KGP) had planned to allocate 5,633,135.55 PLN (ca. 1,423,437 USD) gross for the above order. The second provided details about the offer submitted by Cenzin, which amounts to 7,999,532.55 PLN gross (ca. 2,021,401.88 USD). This includes the base order (335 carbines) at 6,160,559.55 PLN gross and the optional order (100 carbines) at 1,838,973.00 PLN gross, with a unit price of 18,389.73 PLN (ca. 4,647.63 USD) gross per weapon. The company offered the HK416 A5 carbine with an 11-inch barrel.
If the Department of Public Procurement and Aid Funds of the Financial Bureau of the National Police Headquarters does not increase the budget for the order, the tender process will be canceled in accordance with the Public Procurement Law.
On September 19, 2019, the National Police Headquarters (KGP) ordered 546 C.G. Haenel MK556 rifles because the tender required: H&K HK416A5 carbines with an 11-inch (279 mm) barrel for 5.56 mm x 45 NATO ammunition (compliant with Technical Specification No. 27/U/BLP/KGP/2015) or equivalent. The supplier was UMO from Zielonka. However, the weapons were to be withdrawn from service, and the procedure to terminate the contract was initiated due to the identification of non-compliance with the order’s specifications.
In Poland, HK416 carbines are used by officers of the Central Counterterrorism Police Unit (BOA), the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police (CBŚP), the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA), and the Border Guard, as well as by soldiers of the GROM Military Unit, the Commandos Military Unit, the AGAT Military Unit, and the NIL Military Unit.
