From February 4th to 8th, 2024, the World Defence Show 2024 (WDS 2024) is taking place in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is the second edition of this defense sector-focused trade fair organized under the patronage of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

African countries are one of the main directions of our expansion, with which we have been associated for years. Our equipment is in service with several formations from this region, including those from North and Central Africa. Our presence in Riyadh in the coming days is an opportunity to continue the discussions already started, but also a chance to promote sought-after air defense systems or support weapons in the region, said Robert Pacana, Vice President of Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów.

Visitors to the Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów booth could see the RGP-40 grenade launcher – equipment that passed tests in combat conditions. It is designed for combating and incapacitating live forces, destroying technical equipment, building elements (such as windows, doors), incendiary devices, lightly armored vehicles, and deploying smoke screens. At the WDS 2024, the MWS-25 semi-automatic rifle and the MWS-15 selective-fire rifle were also presented. Soldiers and officers who had the opportunity to shoot positively assessed both designs mainly in terms of accuracy and ergonomics (rifles remained stable during shooting with minimal recoil).

At the booth, you could also see the Alex sniper rifle in a bullpup configuration with a caliber of 8.6 mm, with almost twice the muzzle energy in comparison to its older sibling Bor, chambered in 7.62×51 mm. The larger caliber significantly increases the stopping power and effective range of the shot.

There was also the latest version of the UKM 2020S machine gun adapted for firing ammunition compliant with the NATO standard 7.62 mm x 51 in the disintegrating belt M13. The weapon is characterized by reduced weight and a barrel shortened to 440 mm, which affects the ergonomics of its usage.

The light mortar LMC-2021 was also presented at the fair. Thanks to its significant range and high fragmentation of dedicated MAPAM ammunition, this mortar’s fire can provide effective support to fighting subunits at distances up to 1300 m. The minimum guaranteed durability of the mortars is 1500 shots, giving them an advantage over other designs.
