The Turkish Minister of National Defence, Hulusi Akar, in an official letter to his Polish counterpart Mariusz Błaszczak, emphasised the importance of events devoted to the defence industry and confirmed that many companies from this sector from the country of the crescent moon will take part in the Turkish National Exhibition.
National Exhibitions have been an important element of the International Defence Industry Exhibition since 2004. So far, the European Defence Agency and the following countries have presented themselves in this special way: Germany, France, Israel, Sweden, the Visegrad Group V4, Great Britain twice, the USA, Poland, Italy, France, Norway, and South Korea, and this year, for the second time Turkey – says the President of the Board of Targi Kielce, Dr. Andrzej Mochoń.
This year’s Defence Exhibition has gained special importance in the context of the current geopolitical situation, border security and sovereignty of states – adds President Mochoń.
The first National Exhibition during the MSPO was organised by Turkey in 2013. The 21st International Defence Industry Exhibition opened with a concert by the Turkish Mehteran Company Band together with the Military Band of the Polish Armed Forces. Both bands played the national anthems of Poland and Turkey, the Turkish March and other popular Polish and Turkish pieces. At that time, Turkey’s presence at the MSPO was related to the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Turkish Republic and the Republic of Poland and the 600th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Poland and the Ottoman Empire in 2014.
In 2021, during the visit to Turkey by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, referring to cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance, recognised that Poland and Turkey are model partners. The Turkish National Exhibition during the jubilee of the MSPO will certainly seal this cooperation.
In 2022, the International Defence Industry Exhibition will celebrate its 30th Anniversary. The MSPO is not only a comprehensive presentation of military equipment, but also facilitates business meetings and contracts concluded between manufacturers of the defence sector from different continents. The third exhibition of Europe, after the shows in Paris and London, will be held from 6 to 9 September 2022. The strategic partner of the Exhibition is Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) – Polish Armaments Group.
