The contract, which was announced by the U.S. Department of Defense on 14th February, includes deliveries of a number of Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicles (L-ATV), which are known as Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) under DoD’s designation. The agreement has a value of over $407 million and will cover deliveries of the vehicles for the U.S. Army and US Marine Corps (USMC) as well as export customers, such as Lithuania and Slovenia.

New L-ATV/JLTV 4×4 tactical, armoured vehicles will be manufactured by Oshkosh Defense in its facilities in Wisconsin. The U.S. Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity. Although the DoD does not provide the exact number of vehicles, which will be delivered under the agreement, it is expected that the contract call for delivery of 1240 L-ATVs/JLTVs.

The U.S. Army and USMC intend to procure as much as 64 000 JLTVs in different configuration, which will replace the currently operated High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV). Lithuania has a requirement for 200-500 L-ATVs/JLTVs, while Slovania plans to acquire 38 these vehicles.
