The Armaments Inspectorate, acting on behalf of the Polish Ministry of Defense (MoD) informed that five companies have shown their interest in taking part in the technical dialogue. It will precede the future tender for delivery of a series of tank-destroyers for the Polish Army, which will be procured under the ‘Ottokar-Brzoza’ programme.

The list of companies showing their interest in the technical dialogue includes:
– Lockheed Martin Global Inc.
– Rheinmetall Defence Polska Sp. z o.o.
– MBDA UK.
– AMZ Kutno S.A.
– Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ) acting on behalf a number of its subsidiary companies: Rosomak, OBRUM, Huta Stalowa Wola, Wojskowe Zaklady Motoryzacyjne, Wojskowe Zaklady Uzbrojenia and Jelcz
In its second iteration, the technical dialogue for the ‘Ottokar-Brzoza’ will evaluate all possible chassis options as available on the market, including not only tracked platforms, as it was conducted in the initial procedure, which was eventually cancelled, but also wheeled ones.
Lockheed Martin and MBDA-UK, two of the companies, which indicated their interest in the technical dialogue procedure, are best known as manufacturers of Hellfire and Brimstone 2 anti-tank missile systems. They are considered by the MoD and Armaments Inspectorate as a possible weapon systems of choice and the main armament of the future tank-destroyer platform (MSPO2019: CAMM is just a beginning, 2019-09-02).
It is possible that both companies will decide to integrate their missile systems with a number of wheeled and tracked platforms, which could be taken into consideration under the ‘Ottokar-Brzoza’ programme, even those, which are in the use of the Polish Army as of today. At the same time the other two manufacturers, Rheinmetall and AMZ Kutno are expected to bid in the future tender a handful of wheeled platforms, which both companies are well known of.
In regards to PGZ and a number of its subsidiaries, the group will most likely present a rich offer of wheeled and tracked vehicles, most of which are already being manufactured and delivered to the Polish Armed Forces, like the Krab/K9 tracked or Rosomak/Patria AMV 8×8 wheeled chassis, as well as a number of anti-tank effectors.
Under the ‘Ottokar-Brzoza’ programme the Polish Army intends to procure a series of anti-tank vehicles, which will replace Soviet-era BRDM-2s armed with 9P133 Malutka missile system, which, due to their obsolescence, no longer meet the requirements of the modern battlefield.
