On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) announced that, following a qualification procedure, the PGZ Supervisory Board appointed Adam Leszkiewicz as President. The new President of the PGZ Management Board assumed his duties on May 12, 2025.
“I am very pleased to be able to engage, together with the team at the Polish Armaments Group, in the execution of such important tasks related to national security and defense. I am fully committed to the effective implementation of key projects and programs, as well as to the idea of improving PGZ’s operations, introducing necessary changes, and enhancing cooperation with both domestic and international partners in the defense industry. The challenges are clearly defined, and my goal — alongside the business development of the Group and the transformation of the Capital Group’s structure — is above all to improve relations with key stakeholders and translate available financial resources into concrete quantities of appropriate armaments. In this regard, I look forward to working with both public and private sector partners,” said Adam Leszkiewicz.
Adam Leszkiewicz is a manager with many years of experience in both public administration and business, including in state-owned companies.
He has expertise in organizational management, oversight of key processes, and business development. He also possesses a deep understanding of the functioning of public administration systems and the cooperation between the business and public sectors. He has been responsible for restructuring and integration processes in, among others, the Ciech Group, the shipbuilding industry, Polski Holding Nieruchomości, Grupa Azoty, and the food industry. He has overseen the privatization of several hundred state-owned companies and enterprises, as well as divestment, restructuring, organizational and business model changes, strategy and innovation, legislation, and social dialogue.
In recent years, he has been involved in the chemical, logistics, and construction industries. Since March 2024, he has served as President of Grupa Azoty S.A., where he implemented a recovery program and launched the transformation of the Group’s business model under the initiative called AZOTY BUSINESS.
From 2016 to 2023, he served on the management boards of companies within the international groups Steag GmbH and EPH a.s. Earlier, from 2012 to 2016, he was President of the Management Board and CEO at Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn. In 2015, he also held the position of President of the Management Board at Grupa Azoty Chorzów. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Chairman of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry, and he currently holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the Council for the 2025–2027 term. He is also a member of the Council of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of New Chemical Syntheses in Puławy.
From 2009 to 2011, he served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the State Treasury, overseeing, among others, companies in the chemical, agri-food, and real estate sectors, as well as those supporting public administration. He was also responsible for privatization processes and projects, the management of state-owned property, and company valuations. In December 2007, he was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Deputy Head of the Chancellery. His responsibilities included administrative standardization, property management, and oversight of the National School of Public Administration.
He holds qualifications to serve on supervisory boards of state-owned companies. He has chaired the supervisory boards of, among others, the Municipal Water and Sewage Company in Warsaw, CTL Chemol, and ZAKSA S.A. He has also served as a supervisory board member at institutions including Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, the Polish Chemical Consortium, Zakłady Azotowe in Chorzów, and the Tarnów Regional Development Agency.
He is a graduate of the current Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków. He also completed postgraduate studies in management at the Małopolska School of Public Administration and in journalism at what is now the Commission of National Education University.
On April 2 of this year, Krzysztof Trofiniak, then-President of the Management Board of the Polish Armaments Group, submitted his resignation. Trofiniak had held the position since March 25, 2024, when he succeeded Sebastian Chwałek.
On April 4, a recruitment process for the new President of the PGZ Management Board was announced. Until Adam Leszkiewicz officially assumes the role this coming Monday, the position is temporarily held by Arkadiusz Bąk.
The current Management Board of PGZ consists of the following members: Arkadiusz Bąk, Marcin Idzik, Piotr Zawieja, and Jan Grabowski.
