Norwegian company Vorn Defence presented an innovative product at EnforceTac 2018. The Thor backpack is an interesting solution for concealed carry of long-guns. Backpacks are equipped with the patented Quick Rifle Release system, which enables the user to quickly draw the carried weapon.

Thor backpacks are able to accommodate SMGs and carabines in the backpack’s main compartment. Product was presented with H&K MP5 and MP7 and a AR-15 blue-guns The limit for AR-15 barrel’s length is 16 inches (406 mm). Firearms are carried close to the wearer`s back and the carry compartment is reinforced with ABS.

Carry compartment closure (located on the right side) is released by the pull ring placed on the left side, at the base of the backpack. Special opening enables the user to grip the weapon with right hand simultaneously with pulling the release ring with their left. Manufacturer claims, that transition from weapon stowed to ready position does not exceed 2 seconds. At this moment in time backpacks are available only for right-handed shooters.

Thor backpacks are made with 1000D Cordura and polypropylene webbing. Bottom has two pouches for extra magazines. Backpacks have internal frame made of 6061 aluminum. MOLLE/PALS compatible webbing can be added as an extra accessory.

Currently, manufacturer aims this product at the uniformed services and security companies. There is however, a possibility, that it will be produced for civilian market as well. According to Vorn Defence representative, these backpacks in in use by Norwegian, Danish and Austrian uniformed services.
