On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Sergey Chemezov, CEO of the Russian state corporation Rostec, informed the TASS news agency that the 16th MAKS-2025 International Aviation and Space Salon, scheduled to take place at the Ramenskoye airfield in Zhukovsky near Moscow, has been cancelled. The previous, 15th edition was held in 2021 and hosted over 120 delegations from 65 countries—primarily those that traditionally purchase arms from Russia.

The event, organized by the company OAO Aviasalon and the Russian Federal Agency for Industry (Rosprom), had been held every two years since 1993, continuing the legacy of the one-off MosAeroShow ’92. The 16th edition was originally scheduled for July 25–30, 2023, but was canceled due to security concerns and unusually postponed to 2024. Of course, the real reason was the ongoing full-scale war with Ukraine, which had begun a year earlier.
On May 8, 2024, the Interfax news agency reported—citing three sources—that the event had been postponed by another year, this time to 2025, even though the 17th edition was originally supposed to take place that year. In June, Russian authorities officially confirmed the rescheduling.
Now Sergey Chemezov has announced that the Salon will not take place this year either:
“MAKS-2025 will not be held. The event has been postponed to next year. You can see the situation we are currently living in,” read the statement given to the TASS agency.
Will MAKS-2026 happen then? It appears that everything depends on whether Russia is willing to end the war with Ukraine.
