WB Group is strengthening its European partnerships in the defense sector. On the third day of MSPO, companies of the Polish group signed a letter of intent with KNDS. The objective of the cooperation between all parties involved is to deliver modern, digital and network-centric artillery systems tailored to the needs and requirements of the Polish Armed Forces.
The letter of intent was signed on behalf of WB Group’s lead company by President and CEO Piotr Wojciechowski, while ZAiUP AREX was represented by President of the Management Board Krzysztof Bielawski, and KNDS by Alexandre Penley, Vice President International Business Development – Europe and NATO.
The agreement signed in Kielce paves the way for the integration of Polish battle management systems with artillery solutions offered by KNDS. The letter of intent also represents an important step toward concluding a strategic partnership agreement covering the delivery, integration and support of selected military equipment.
Under the agreement, WB Group and KNDS intend to jointly offer the Polish Armed Forces a comprehensive artillery solution extensively integrated with Polish technologies and fully interoperable with the TOPAZ fire-control system already in service with the Polish Armed Forces.

A separate KNDS press release specifies that the subject of the agreement with WB Group is the 105LG MkIII 105 mm light towed howitzer, weighing 1,650 kg, which makes it one of the lightest systems of its kind in the world.
Its low weight enables easy air transport, including by medium transport helicopters, as well as rapid deployment in difficult or spatially constrained terrain. Its exceptional mobility, combined with a long range of up to 17 km when using KNDS-produced ERG3 ammunition, high accuracy and a high rate of fire (a six-round burst in 15 seconds and more than 16 rounds per minute) make the system particularly well suited to airborne and airmobile forces. These formations especially value the ability to rapidly transport the gun as an external helicopter load, together with the firepower it provides. The 105 LG is also in service with national guard formations; soldiers operating the system value its short and straightforward training process, including maintenance training, which supports rapid achievement and sustainment of operational readiness.
KNDS is also ready to launch local production of ERG3 long-range ammunition for the 105 LG howitzer, further expanding Poland’s sovereign capabilities.
Finally, it is worth noting that in recent years the Territorial Defence Forces have expressed interest in introducing lightweight 105 mm howitzers into their force structure.
