The R-460W provides broadband data transmission at rates exceeding 100 Mb/s over distances of more than 5 km. The system also incorporates the BAZ-20P automated antenna positioning unit (antenna rotor), developed by Transbit engineers. The mechanism enables precise remote pointing of the antenna in two axes – azimuth and elevation – as well as stabilization through continuous compensation for mast deflections caused, for example, by strong wind gusts. This makes it possible to maintain continuous, high-quality transmission, as operation at such high frequencies and with a narrow beam requires very precise antenna alignment, which directly affects link stability and performance.

The new radio relay system is already in serial production and forms part of the equipment of the latest-generation communications nodes developed for the Wisła air defense system. The R-460W was designed to operate in an environment of intensive electronic warfare, where transmission security and low observability are of key importance. This is achieved by minimizing the risk of detection and geolocation of the radio beam through a low electromagnetic signature. As with any software-defined communications device (SDR), other waveforms may be developed in the future. Work is already underway to increase the link’s data throughput.
