The TREMOS system made its debut at the Future Mortar Systems 2024 conference in London, held on October 29–30.
According to the manufacturer, the mortar module weighs 2,800 kg and will be offered in 120 mm and 81 mm calibers. The mortar is operated by a crew of three to four soldiers. Its theoretical rate of fire is 12–15 rounds per minute, with the first three rounds fired within 15 seconds. Firing range depends on the ammunition used and is expected to exceed 7 km. The traverse arc is 185°, while elevation ranges from 40° to 80°. The system is equipped with an ammunition storage system, loading system and an inertial navigation system (INS) for aiming, and can additionally be integrated with a battle management system (BMS). It takes approximately 60 seconds to take up a firing position. No special ground preparation is required. The mortar is also fitted with a recoil absorption system, eliminating the need for vehicle outriggers.
Fire missions are conducted directly from the cargo bed after it has been partially opened. In the event of a vehicle failure, the module can be transferred to another carrier and continue the mission. According to the manufacturer, the system can be integrated with any wheeled chassis in 4×4, 6×6 or 8×8 configuration, as well as with light tracked vehicles.
Finland is the first user of the system, where it has entered service under the designation 120 KRH M3 (Modular Mobile Mortar). In the truck-mounted version displayed in Kielce, it was ordered by the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command (Puolustusvoimien logistiikkalaitos) under the Ministry of Defence in October 2024. It has been used by the Finnish military for training purposes since early 2026.
More recently, on September 8, Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen authorized the Logistics Command to sign a 49.9 million EUR net contract for the serial production of more than 100 systems mounted on the GTP 4×4 light armored vehicle chassis manufactured by Finnish company Sisu Auto, with an option covering hundreds of additional units. TREMOS mounted on this carrier made its debut during Denmark’s largest defense industry exhibition, DALO Industry Days, held in Ballerup on August 20–21, 2025.
