ZMR 2022 – Mine-Laying and Reconnaissance Kit
In cooperation with the Military Institute of Engineer Technology (WITI) in Wrocław and the Institute of Security Technologies “MORATEX”, and drawing on experience gained during overseas missions as well as from NATO engineering units, modern solutions have been developed and introduced into service for this highly specialized type of unit. The flagship system supplied to Polish engineering units is the ZMR 2022.

The ZMR, or universal modular mine-laying and reconnaissance kit, features a broad range of equipment required to carry out the diverse tasks encountered by military engineering personnel. The ZMR replaces older engineering kits such as the MZM, KR-III-4, Z-63M, ZMR-89 and the Z-64 drilling kit.
A single comprehensively configured kit makes it possible to organize the equipment more effectively and adapt it better to modern requirements. The ZMR also includes IEM camouflage screens, which are playing an increasingly important role on the modern battlefield.
The command set includes equipment from renowned and proven manufacturers, including a Silva compass, Garmin GPS receiver and a rangefinder from Delta Optical.
Similarly, the tool organizer includes high-quality equipment such as a Leatherman multitool and a folding knife manufactured by ZA-PAS, a renowned Polish producer of high-quality knives.
IZOSN – Engineering Hazard Zone Marking Kit
Another very important kit designed to improve the safety of soldiers and civilians is the IZOSN.
The Engineering Hazard Zone Marking Kit is currently undergoing modernization work, which has been underway for several months and is now in the consultation phase. Its most important feature is the international nature of the warning signs, which, in accordance with international standards, should be used by all armed forces and services whenever required. The signs warn of hazards that may result in injury or death, including the risk of detonation of various battlefield explosive devices, as well as other types of danger.
Sapper Backpack
The Sapper Backpack is another solution developed by the LUBAWA team for combat engineers, containing a set of individual equipment for soldiers in this specialty. The concept is based on providing the soldier with access to basic tools and equipment needed to carry out engineering tasks without having to rely on extensive team-level equipment. However, LUBAWA is also well known for its battlefield protection solutions, so this type of protection could not be omitted for specialists whose knowledge and skills are built up over many years of training and service.
Szerszeń Combat Engineering Suit
Another product designed and manufactured by LUBAWA S.A. is the modernized lightweight SZERSZEŃ (“Hornet”)suit for combat engineers and EOD personnel. SZERSZEŃ was designed as a modular solution, with individual components providing protection for different parts of the body. The two-piece suit provides individual protection while maintaining ergonomics that allow the use of specialist equipment required for mine-clearance and EOD operations. The upper part consists of a vest with detachable sleeves and a ballistic collar compliant with IMAS requirements. The lower part consists of trousers reinforced around the knee joints, which is important during work requiring frequent kneeling or movement across difficult terrain.
The design is complemented by a protective pad intended to reduce the effects of falls. The suit is also compatible with the MOLLE/PALS attachment system, allowing additional equipment to be carried and the configuration to be adapted to the user’s requirements. In its standard configuration, size L weighs no more than 20 kg. The suit provides 360° protection with varying levels of ballistic protection.
OPTIMUS Lightweight EOD Suit
Drawing on experience and the requirements of Polish Armed Forces units, the OPTIMUS Lightweight EOD Suit was developed.
Clearing terrain of hazardous objects is one of the tasks that requires particular caution, experience and appropriate protective equipment from soldiers. In this type of operation, it is essential to protect the user against the potential effects of an explosion while maintaining freedom of movement and the ability to perform assigned tasks precisely. The upper part of the system consists of a sleeveless vest equipped with shoulder-joint protection. The absence of sleeves increases freedom of movement of the upper limbs, which is important when carrying out precise EOD tasks. The vest is also fitted with a ballistic collar compliant with IMAS requirements. The system additionally provides protection for the front of the body, from the waist to the knees.
This solution reflects the nature of the work performed by EOD personnel, who may spend extended periods kneeling or working in other constrained positions while clearing terrain. Protection is complemented by a fragmentation-resistant visor designed to protect the head and face from fragments. Its low weight — approximately 8 kg — provides a favorable balance between protection and mobility. The soldier can move more freely across terrain, adopt the required positions and carry out tasks without the additional burden associated with heavier protective equipment.
LUBAWA S.A. will showcase its product range at the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce, to be held on September 8–11, 2026. The company’s solutions will be presented at booth 3Z-19
